Welcome to Impact Racing
Since 2008, Impact Racing has been one of the more noticeable teams at the track. Jeremy's great starts, frequent holeshots, his ever improving finishes including several podium spots, and the bike's vibrant paint scheme and matching leathers help get noticed on the track. In the pits, Impact Racing also gets attention with our professional appearance, attitude, and team uniforms.

It is with much disappointment I am able to write this news today. We should be in Africa on Day 2 of the Cannonball Bike Run. Unfortunately, even with six months of planning and preparation, it came down to DHL Global Forwarding and U.S. Customs dropping the ball. Both unreasonably delayed the shipment of our bikes and just 12 hours before our plane was to leave LAX it was determined DHL would be unable to deliver our bikes to the Spain staging point before the start of the Cannonball and we were forced to cancel.

However, there was a double points WSMC weekend we would have missed that we now attended. Our new motor sat in the shop still in pieces as we had devoted our time to preparing for the Cannonball. We now had just 36 hours to finish the build of the motor, get it in the bike, and switch ourselves over from Cannonball mode to race mode.

As disappointing as missing the Cannonball is, it may have been for the better. Jeremy's first race saw him rocket off the starting line well ahead of the pack, leading the race for nearly the entire first lap. Jeremy would finish the race only a few seconds off the leader. The rest of the day would see similar results with Jeremy shattering his previous lap record for this track by more than 2 seconds and was able to keep the lead riders well within sight.

Be it the new motor, Jeremy's continued improvement, or a little of both, it was a very successful weekend and shows just how proficient a rider Jeremy is becoming.

Whew! We made it through the hectic May schedule. Three race weekends in a row and Jeremy continues to show significant improvement. At Buttonwillow, a track we only visit once a year, Jeremy took 4.3 seconds off last year's lap times. The Willow Springs weekend was equally good as Jeremy shaved 0.8 seconds off his lap times after taking off 1.6 seconds in April. Miller Motorsports Park, another track we see only once a year, rounded out the month's schedule with Jeremy taking 3.0 seconds off last year.

As we take a nearly two month break from racing and prepare for the Cannonball Bike Run in Africa in a few weeks, we can finally catch up on much needed maintenance to our bikes and equipment and finally get a true superstock legal race motor in the bike. Jeremy has been suffering with a bone stock motor since he began racing. We are all very anxious to see how this new motor helps push Jeremy to the front of the pack.

Remember that bike we borrowed parts from after Jeremy's crash at WSMC last month? There's not much left of it. When Jeremy's motor let go after Fontana we "borrowed" the motor from what has become the parts bike (thanks again Corey for donating your street bike). Another sleepless week of working on the race bike but it was all for good. Jeremy's had another successful race weekend in Vegas. And finally a weekend where nothing broke.

Jeremy's first professional road race was a huge success even though Friday's practice and qualifying was a little rocky. Jeremy was tense and felt sloppy out on the track and although he was just within the qualifying lap time, he knew he needed to make some changes to guarantee a spot on the grid.

By Saturday morning the paddock was in shambles after intense overnight winds continued through the morning. Jeremy headed out for the first qualifying session of the day which was red flagged after just two laps due to the winds. It was determined to be too dangerous out on the track and the air fences were blowing out of place. While the day's qualifying and fan activities were cancelled, it gave Jeremy some time to calm his nerves and relax. By late afternoon conditions had improved just enough to squeeze in the three races before sunset and the race program was underway.

Gridded 21st, Jeremy held his own and finished 20th out of 25 riders on both days. A respectable finish for a fairly new racer in his first professional race. Congratulations go out to the entire team for all the hard work in getting through our first AMA race weekend.

But the action didn't end with Sunday's checkered flag. Immediately after Jeremy got the checkers, while rolling through the turn 1-2 area, his motor had enough. It began knocking something fierce, a sound Jeremy was familiar with so he got off the track and limped the bike back to the pits. Time for a new motor!

"That's racing" has never been more true than it was for Jeremy this weekend at Willow Springs. After missing the first couple sessions during Saturday practice due to a generator malfunction, Jeremy finally got out to test some new equipment and the AMA spec tires he would be running next weekend. With the weather being absolutely perfect, we were looking for an astounding weekend - Jeremy hoping to break his old lap record by 1.5 to 2 seconds.

Everything changed early on in Jeremy's second practice session when another rider took an unexpected line pushing Jeremy off the track. Jeremy ran off turn three and hit the dirt berm, sending he and the bike to a nasty crash. Jeremy got banged up pretty good but nothing serious. The bike was also in bad shape and the team was ready to pack up and head home. But being a double-points weekend, we decided to at least try and get the bike in working order and get Jeremy to start the race to earn a couple points.

Even that seemed fruitless when, after 7 hours of work late into the night, we still could not get the bike running. But our efforts paid off. We got the bike running and thanks to a street bike we used for spare parts, lots of duct tape and zip ties, the bike was ready just in time for a few laps of practice Sunday morning. But Jeremy was beat up pretty good and wasn't even sure he could start a race. He tried anyway and, remarkably, once out on the track he seemed to forget all about his pain. Not only did Jeremy start all three races, not only did he complete every lap, but he even landed on the podium in one race and did respectable in the others.

Congratulations must go out to the entire Impact Racing team. We showed what hard work and determination can do in even the most trying circumstances. Now for the sleepless nights getting the bike and Jeremy ready for AMA in just a couple days.

January 20 2010
We found out Jeremy doesn't like racing in the rain on normal tires. His final race of the day was wet but they had not declared it a "wet start" so everyone was on normal race rubber. A lot of riders didn't even bother showing up to the grid so at least we got a good start on the points for the season. The earlier part of the day was cold and cloudy, lap times were certainly off from what we would have liked, but overall, not a terrible weekend. It's only January.

The new year and race season are here. We would like to extend a huge thank you to PlanetWoot for their support over the past two years. It is with much sadness we say goodbye as PlanetWoot fell victim to the economy and closed their doors. As our main sponsor from day one, PlanetWoot was instrumental in developing our team presence. Setting us off in the right direction, providing us the look and attitude of a factory team, they gave us the motivation to succeed and progress as quickly as we have. Thank you, PlanetWoot!

Living in SoCal is a mixed blessing. We get to race year-round but we have no off-season to rest, train, and prepare for the new season. Not even a week into the new year and we are already packing up for our first of three race weekends this month. The 2010 schedule is set, however, we have not made a final decision on racing any AMA rounds.

November 25 2009
The Tentative 2010 Race Schedule has been posted. The plan for 2010 is to again race the WSMC and WERA West series, the new California State Championship series, the Fontana and Infineon AMA rounds, and the Cannonball Bike Run in Morocco, Africa.

The season certainly did not end easily. This past WSMC weekend was an important one. In the early part of the year we ran out of gas just seconds from the checkered flag in 600 Mod Prod on a double points weekend and it cost us 26 points. We had been fighting all season to make it back into the top 3 overall and it came down to this last race. Based on the previous few months results, it looked like we would be able to do it as long as we were on top of our game. Everything looked good until practice on Saturday morning when the shift shaft inside the motor broke, almost sending Jeremy off the track a couple of times. Luckily, because Jeremy had attended a supermoto class on Friday with the rig, Corey had rode his R6 to the track and we were able to pull the shift shaft from his bike and get Jeremy back out for a couple practices on Saturday. Sunday went like clockwork with a 4th in all three classes, more than enough to clinch a 3rd overall in 600 Mod Prod, and a 4th overall in 600 Super Stock and 650 Super Bike. Congratulations Jeremy and all the Impact Racing team for a great season!
