Cannonball Bike Run: Day 5

Today was another great day of free riding. We headed back to the coast and we had a lot of straight roads, but at Cannonball speeds we got through them pretty quick. I got the gix 600 up to 167mph. We also had some good mountain roads which consisted of high speed, race track type sections which turned into narrow, bumpy sections with really tight turns.

The fast group arrived at lunch a good hour before much of the rest of the group. The Moroccans have a pretty laid back attitude. They don't have schedules or appointments and just kind of let things happen as they happen. So when we got to the restaurant they weren't expecting us and didn't really have any food. They sent a couple kids off to the market to get food and although we told them to go ahead and feed us before the others arrived, they stalled until everyone was there.

Two and a half hours later we were ready for the afternoon section, but first I was asked to perform some wheelies in front of the restaurant. By the second or third wheelie more than 50 people came from out of nowhere and lined the street to watch. It was the hit of the town.

We arrived in Agadir at a really nice beach resort hotel where we learned of the evening's pre-dinner activity - personal watercraft. We went out in small groups for 30 minutes each and that was enough. 30 minutes out in the ocean after a good day of riding was tiring, but tons of fun. Afterward we cleaned up and headed down the road for dinner. Agadir is a very busy vacation destination so the streets were packed with cars, mopeds and people as we made the 4 minute walk to the restaurant, Fouquet's. The food was good, more of the same meats, rice, salad, etc, but I wasn't feel too good so I just nibbled and after dessert I ran back to the hotel and went to bed.

Another great Cannonball day.
